This presentation addresses the opportunities and challenges of telemedicine in low-resource settings, including the process of setting up a telemedicine practice and how it has changed post-COVID. You will also learn about the technical elements and privacy considerations that need to be in place for success.

Fitness to fly: Lessons learned

Through case studies, this session examines the causes of in-flight emergencies and risks associated with air travel. It considers the health outcomes of patients attended by air crews and onboard doctors, as well as flight diversions. You will also learn about how to navigate airline administrative protocols for special and high risk travellers.

The high risk traveller: Post-surgery & psychiatric repatriations

This session considers high risk travellers, specifically those who travel post-surgery and patients who have to be repatriated as a result of a psychiatric emergency. Through case studies, you will learn about common challenges and how to advise your travellers about how to handle post-surgical complications abroad and what to expect during a repatriation related to a mental health event.
